Equine Travelers

It's time for the US Pony Club Eastern National Championship competition.  For Pheasant Field B&B, that means we get the opportunity to host some great horses and wonderful young riders!  The new paddock and run-in shed was used for the very first time on Tuesday night by Pony Club competitors.
Early morning light on the new paddock at pheasant Field B&B in Carlisle PA.

This beauty was a PMU rescue horse - and now she is a dressage horse - and a really good one too!
Time for a morning bath before loading for the trip to Lexington VA.

We wish all of our riders and their mounts "Good Luck" and "Good Ride" at Pony Club Nationals!

Pet Friendly Lodging in Carlisle PA

We have had our fair share of dogs, cats, birds, a ferret or two, mules, and horses who have stayed with us at Pheasant Field B&B. Tonight we have our first goat travelers at our B&B! These are dwarf kids who will be show animals and dairy goats.  Right now they are just so cute!
Two of the three dwarf dairy kids and their new "mom" who is taking great care to keep their feed and even their water the same to minimize disruption as they make the journey home to Georgia.

These kids are going to their new homes in Georgia and Florida where they will impress everyone with their great breeding lines and just by how darn cute they are!

Some of our visiting critters are not domesticated - like these herons which were lost in their dance with each other and did not realize how far they were from the pond or how close they were to the road.  Fortunately, they were alerted when the flash went off in my camera. They flew off safely back to the pond.  This shows  just some of the great bird watching opportunities here at Pheasant Field B&B.

This Rhodesian Ridgeback was actually bigger than the dwarf goats now visiting with us.  And this girl was so well trained and such a lady!

We are seeing progress on our solar project.  The lines for the water are in and are bring attached to the solar collection tubes.  The lines have been run into the house and will be ready to hook up Friday or Monday.
We are growing "greener" at Pheasant Field Bed & Breakfast!

Last weekend vs. this weekend in Carlisle PA

Last weekend was hot, Hot, HOT in Carlisle as the Chryslers came to town for the Carlisle Chrysler Nationals!
Yes - it was almost 110 degrees!

'59 Plymouth - Nice!

Sweeeeeet...

It's too easy to get a speeding ticket with this one!

Another nice one!

OK, maybe it's not "sweeeeet" - but it's still a Chrysler product!

All of our Chrysler guests braved the heat and attended every day of the show!  Water was the beverage of choice for most of them...

Our Solar project has made some progress! In our last blog post, we showed you the new run-in shed, paddock and the solar equipment after it was delivered.  Here are some pictures of the progress this week.
The equipment is being installed.

The new run-in shed has been painted to match the other buildings on the property.

It's time for Bluegrass on the Grass in Carlisle PA.  Enjoy some great bluegrass music on the lawn at Dickinson College on Saturday, July 14th. From 1 to 9 PM you can tap your foot, sing along, or just enjoy the Bluegrass Music - all FREE!  The weather service promises that it will NOT be 110 degrees this weekend!

Sunday, July 15th is National Ice Cream Day!  Stay at our bed and breakfast, Pheasant Field B&B, on Sunday night, and get a FREE ice cream cone!  There is nothing better than a ice cream cone on a warm summer evening!

What's Happening in Carlisle PA

It's time for SummerFair 2012!  The first event was Thursday night (benefit dinner) then continued with the parade and ice cream social on the square on Friday night. Saturday brought us fireworks and tonight the Harrisburg Symphony plays a light concert (complete with some patriotic favorites) on the lawn of Dickinson College campus. Still to come: "Almost Anything that Floats" race, historic walking tours, a musical (The Pajama Game), craft show, scavenger hunt, and fishing derby. ALL FREE!!!! Come to Carlisle for t SummerFair 2012!

And "What's new at Pheasant Field Bed & Breakfast?" you may ask... We have a new paddock and run-in shed for our many equine guests!

New! An additional run-in shed for guest horses!  We need to paint it (white with black trim, of course) to match all the other farm structures.  But it is available now for guest horses.

Check out the new 4-board fencing for the new paddock.

Months ago we blogged about our new solar project.  It is finally being installed!
"X" + "O" marks the spot for one of the footers for the array of tubes for the solar hot water.  You can see the stanchions in the background.
More solar "stuff".  Watch for updates within the next few weeks.as the project continues.

Have a safe and Happy July 4th Celebration!  Happy Birthday America!!!!!
