Happy Thanksgiving

We had an international gathering at breakfast this morning! Our guests last night were from Germany, France, Hungary, and of course the USA! We loved being hosts to guests from so far away - and those from areas closer to Carlisle!

We want to wish all of you a very "Happy Thanksgiving" shared with family and friends.

Elopement in Carlisle PA

What fun! We have a very small wedding ceremony here at Pheasant Field Bed & Breakfast tonight. Joe & Jennifer will make their vows to each other in front of our fireplace in the family room then have a private dinner at one of our favorite Carlisle Restaurants. Then.... they will live happily ever after!

This weekend, Meadowbrooke Gourds will have their first Winter Open House of the season. Wagon rides, painting classes and gourd plant tours will add to the fun on their farm outside Carlisle, PA.

On your way to the gourd farm, stop in at Canaday's Book Barn. The Book Barn has over 50,000 books! Many books in their collection are old and rare finds!

Thanksgiving will be upon us next week. We see many return guests as they travel "over the river and through the woods" to Grandma's (or Mom's or Aunt Sara's) house for this special holiday. We at Pheasant Field B&B believe this holiday, celebrated for GIVING THANKS, should be honored for just that! SO, if you are visiting Pheasant Field on or before Thanksgiving Day, do not expect to see any Christmas decorations here at the B&B. Watch out on the day AFTER Thanksgiving - then almost everything in this old house takes on some Christmas flair!

We wish all of you a Blessed Thanksgiving Holiday shared with family and friends!

Busy Veterans Day 2011

On Thursday, 11/10/11, we were honored to host a very special group of guests. More than half of the people you see in these pictures served our country in the armed forces. (Sorry, we missed a few snapshots!) We hosted active personnel and veterans of the US Army, the US Air Force, the US Navy, and the US Marines. All of these wonderful folks were SO appreciative of our small gift of a free night's stay at Pheasant Field! I was humbled - it was such a small thing compared to their service to our country. We salute these wonderful folks!

After we cleaned all the rooms from the B&Bs for Vets special night, we then hosted a women's retreat from St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Mechanicsburg. Twenty women sang, prayed, laughed, ate, and even played together during the retreat led by Sue Schmidt. We enjoy having that special "spirit" in this place! Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your retreat!

We are now awaiting tonight's check-ins: some people planning to move to our area so they are here on a property search; equestrians going south from Canada (looking for warm weather!); a mom with her two daughters who came to visit Meadowbrooke Gourds; and a few weekend getaway couples. There are so many reasons to visit the Cumberland Valley! Plan a little quiet escape before the busy-ness of the holiday season! Book now!
P.S. You will not see any Christmas decorations here until after Thanksgiving!

"Fall back" as Daylight Saving Time ends

Daylight saving time ends this weekend (November 6 at 2:00 AM). That means that you will have an extra hour to spend snuggling in one of our comfy beds here at Pheasant Field Bed & Breakfast!

The weather report predicts mostly sunny and high temperatures in the 50's and low temperatures will be in the 30's. The snow is gone from last weekend's freak storm, so it will be a wonderful weekend for hiking on the AT, or watching the hawks and eagles soar over Waggoner's Gap.

Join in a cooking class, "Farm to Table", with chef Diane Phillips. Just a few spots are open for this wonderful fall class that uses seasonal vegetables - so fresh and good! Don't forget, students at Kitchen Shoppe Classes get a discount on their stay at Pheasant Field B&B.

"Fall back" into some fun in the Cumberland Valley this weekend. Make your reservation now for your fall getaway.
