Home Improvements at Pheasant Field B&B

We are making some improvements here at the B&B. Last week, we replaced the carpet in the living room. The new carpet is such a soothing color - just what you need for a relaxing getaway weekend.
While we were working in that room, we also changed the furniture configuration so now the room looks bigger...
And to make our guests more cozy this winter, we are installing a new furnace this week.
Watch for more upgrades here at Pheasant Field Bed & Breakfast... Coming in November - new flooring in Boxwood Cottage and our solar water heating system.

Celebrations in Carlisle PA

We had lots of private celebrations this weekend at Pheasant Field B&B!

Two couples spent their wedding night at Pheasant Field. We wish all the best to Adam & Deanna and Manny & Samantha as they begin their new lives together.

Kari & Jim were here to celebrate their first anniversary! Their pups came along with them and even enjoyed some of the anniversary/wedding cake. Now that will be really good luck for them!

Joe & Ellen were celebrating 36 years of marriage. They enjoyed meeting the newly weds. Joe & Ellen are frequent guests and usually come here for the Corvette show. We were happy to have them here to visit other attractions in the area. They had a great time at the Oktoberfest at the Army Heritage & Education Center.

There was also a birthday celebration - Three sisters get together here several times per year. This trip included a birthday cake for Janice. They also found lots of things to see and do. Shopping was one of the favorite activities for them this weekend. They told me about a book store that I never visited - Canaday's Book Barn- which is conveniently on the way to Meadowbrooke Gourds! That will make a nice afternoon of browsing for almost anyone!

We had a wonderful weekend doing our best to make all these guests feel special in some small way during their celebratory getaway.
Next weekend, come for the special literary event, Celebrate the Book - a benefit for our local library. Check our availability and plan your fall getaway to Pheasant Field B&B.

PA National Horse Show

The Pennsylvania National Horse Show begins today in Harrisburg at the PA Farm Show Complex. Have you even seen a horse fly? These equine athletes seem to float over the jumps as they and their riders become one unit of intelligence, strategy, speed, and strength. You can witness these feats of grace and agility for the next 10 days at the Farm Show Complex - just a short drive from our B&B.

We had the honor to host one of the equine contestants here at Pheasant Field Bed & Breakfast. "Lollapalooza" stayed with us on his way to the show. He traveled here from Arizona to compete in the Youth divisions of the competition. He looks pretty relaxed here at our little farm but you can catch him in action over the weekend of October 14 & 15 at the show.

Have a great weekend!

What's happening in Carlisle PA?

Coming up this weekend - Oktoberfest at the Army Heritage & Education Center. The third annual Carlisle Oktoberfest is scheduled for this Saturday, Oct. 15, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission and parking are free to this all-day, family-oriented event celebrating the culture of Germany. The fest will be held rain or shine. Oktoberfest is sponsored by Carlisle Barracks. Many of the residents there have served at Army posts in Germany - so they really know about the German festival! Some activities include a bratwurst-eating contest, a polka dance demonstration, a Bavarian costume contest, tethered hot air balloon rides, an afternoon soccer game and a performance by the Happy Wanderers, a traditional German oompha band. There will also be a 5K Volksmarch through the AHEC Army Heritage Trail, through the scenic Carlisle Barracks golf course and onto the post.

A full day of activities is scheduled at the 'Celebrate the Book ' Festival at the Carlisle Expo Center on Saturday, October 22. Meet author David Baldacci, author of the Camel Club series, Absolute Power & Deliver Us From Evil. He will speak at 10am and will follow with a book signing. Also on October 22, you can experience Carlisle during the Confederate Invasion of 1863 on a walking with the Cumberland County Historical Society. Mention "Books & Civil War" when you make your reservation to receive a copy of Michael Shaara's The Killer Angels.

The leaves are changing here in the Cumberland Valley so it's a great time for your fall getaway! Check availability and make your reservation at Pheasant Field Bed & Breakfast now.

An Anniversary

18 years ago today, Chuck & I signed all the papers making us the owners of this wonderful little farm that became Pheasant Field Bed & Breakfast. Six months later we began our new careers as innkeepers and, as they say, the rest is history... We hope that all our guests are enjoying this property as much as we do. We really try to make this a "better way to stay" - more like "home", relaxed, warm, and welcoming.

Happy Anniversary to us in this old house! And if you have never stayed in a B&B, try a search for a B&B in the town of your next destination. I hope you will find a better way to stay!
