Finally - we got the power!

"Irene" caused lots of power outages here in the Cumberland Valley. High winds and heavy rains caused our power to go off at about 3:30 AM on Sunday. It was restored at 10:30 AM this morning - just as some of our Corvette show regular guests were leaving. So now "we got the power" back!!!!
We want to say a BIG "THANKS!" to so many people who supported us during this 'adventure':
To our guests - Dean, Jack, Julie, Bill, Katherine, Joe, Ilene -- Thank you for being understanding, shrugging your shoulders, and laughing at our situation! You're the best!!!!!
Kathy, Nancy, and Phyllis - "the barn ladies" - they 'schlepped' water from home for the horses, cleaned stalls with light from flashlights, and even took some of our frozen food home with them to keep it frozen. THANKS so much!!!!!
To Bill, Mike, Kate, Kay, Sara -- who provided moral support, brought chain saws, brought hot coffee for our guests' breakfast, cleaned using disinfecting wet wipes, and helped charge our cell phones and laptop at their homes. It was great to have your support and to see your smiling faces here for help in a time of some stress.
To our neighbors who helped flag down the power company truck as it passed by. Even though I had called numerous times to check on the progress of the restoration of power, our utility company did not realize that we were still "sans electric"! Our neighbor literally ran out to the road and pointed out the fuse on the nearby transformer that had popped during the storm (discovered thanks to Dean's detective work!!!) WOW - what great neighbors!

We know that we had it easy as far as storm damage - it was really just slight inconvenience for us. We pray for all those folks who were hit really hard by the storm that relief will come to them, power be restored to them, and that they will have the strength and support to rebuild their homes and their lives.

Goodbye and good riddance to "Irene"! It's now sunny and pleasant here at Pheasant Field B&B! It will be absolutely beautiful for the next few days! Join us for some sunshine and pleasant breezes!

Corvettes and College Students return to Carlisle, PA

WELCOME to all of "our" Dickinson freshmen! Freeda, Cooper, Grant - we wish you well on your new beginning as college students! Do good stuff, learn a lot, and have some fun. This is your time to grow in so many ways!
And to the Dickinson parents - enjoy your new status as "empty nesters".
Dr. Kim Phipps, president of Messiah College and a recent "empty nester" herself, has some sage advice to you parents. Enjoy your child's transition, but don't smother them...

WELCOME back to all of our Corvette enthusiasts! We absolutely LOVE this weekend with the folks who have become old friends (OK - not so 'old', but long-time friends!). This weekend has become a Corvette family reunion here at Pheasant Field B&B as some of our Vette guests have been staying with us for 17 years! We hope that the weather holds for the show here in our area as "Irene" makes her way to the coastal areas. All of those folks living in her path will be in our thoughts and prayers this weekend.

Enjoy your weekend as summer winds down. Keep us in mind for your fall getaway!

Wedding Reception in Carlisle, PA

Today we host the wedding reception of Vicki & Tim - so we are preparing the property and setting up tables and chairs for their special party. They were married about two weeks ago at a small, private ceremony on a beach next to the waves of the Atlantic Ocean. Today about 100 of their family and friends will gather to share the joy of their love.
It's been fun planning this event with the bride! We've been searching out decorations to match the "beachy" theme. The tables will be using ocean blue table cloths and then decorated with fishing nets and sea shells. We plan to have a very fun day here at Pheasant Field Bed & Breakfast!

If you're planning a wedding or reception in the future, take a look at some of ourpictures and send us an email to get all the scoop on special events here at our Carlisle B&B.

Gifts from Guests

Our guests are so kind, considerate, and generous! In many cases, they are also very talented. When I arrived home today after running some errands, I found this lovely framed photograph of a ring neck pheasant - complete with the Pheasant Field logo!
This piece was composed by Jim C. who stays with us during the fall car show in Carlisle. He took the photo at a pheasant farm located near his home. What a nice addition to our Pheasant Field home! Thanks Jim!

Speaking of artists - "Seven Lively Artists" art show opens today at Gallerie 13 in Mechanicsburg and runs through August 27th. One of the artists, Earl Blust, has taught some plein-air painting classes here at Pheasant Field Bed & Breakfast. We were honored to have him look at our property through the artist's eye, capture some of the features on canvas, and teach other new artists to see the colors, textures, and shading that we just skim over everyday. We all need to pause from time to time and see the whole world as a work of art! ...And smell the roses too!
