Weddings in Carlisle PA

We hosted our first wedding and reception dinner of the year at Pheasant Field Bed & Breakfast last weekend. It was an intimate ceremony and dinner with only the family attending. The bride was beautiful and the groom was so handsome - what a happy couple! We wish Marci and Derek many, many years of love, joy, and happiness!
Here are a few pictures of our crew and the caterer preparing for this special occasion...

Spring has sprung in Carlisle PA

Tomorrow is officially the first day of spring! Yesterday I planted pansies and worked in the flower beds a bit. Today, I want to show you a little of the spring color around Pheasant Field B&B.
The wreath on the back door is meant to say "Welcome" in a bright, cheerful way! (You can see a reflection of the barn and silo in the glass.)
This yellow pansy looks happy to be in the bright sun and the daffodils are ready to pop open!

I don't want you to think that all of our spring flowers are yellow. Here are some of the crocus that greet guests as they pull into the driveway!

With the arrival of spring comes Wedding Season here at the B&B! Next week we host our first wedding of the year. It will be a small gathering of family & friends (about 25 people), with the ceremony in the main house and dinner following in the family room. We are excited to be a small part of this very special day for this young couple! I'll tell you more next week!

It's time to think about traveling! Make your plans for spring getaways and summer family reunions! We hope to see you soon here at Pheasant Field Bed & Breakfast!

Things to do in Harrisburg PA

Doggies, doggies, doggies! This weekend at the PA Farm Show complex - "PawsAbilities" is celebrating 15 years of benefiting Susquehanna Service Dogs. This event includes demonstrations of K-9 police units, dog Olympic games, 'clicker' training, and the cutest dog contest. Our guests checking in tonight brought their Beagle/Dachshund mix, "Angel". They will be going to PawsAbilities to see the events and vendors and so that "Angel" can play with other doggies!

The biggest home show in the east continues through the weekend at the Farm Show Complex. If you're looking for the latest solar technology, a great hot tub, landscaping ideas, or if you want to see the latest construction project by a local vocational technical school, visit the PA Home Show!

Pennsylvania is celebrating its 330th birthday! PA Charter Day is a free event on Sunday, March 13, from noon to 4 PM. You can greet William Penn as portrayed by William Kushatus, meet Pennsylvania's 2010 National History Day Winners or take in a lecture on the history of the state's forests. Visitors can also learn about Victorian life with the Victorian Dance Ensemble and hear tales of bygone days as Pennsylvania Jack tells stories full of characters from the Keystone State. Come celebrate PA history with us!

We still have two rooms available for Saturday night so come to Carlisle this weekend and explore our area!

Horse Travelers and Writers

We enjoy meeting all the people who pass through our doors. Last night's guests were so interesting and fun!

We had two generations of a family who came to the area to attend their son/grandson's commissioning ceremony. The young man recently graduated from Shippensburg University and participated in the Marine Corp's ROTC program. Congratulations and all the best to him as he begins his career as a US Marine Officer!

We welcomed some equine guests and their owners who were returning home to MA from a month in the warmer climate of Aiken, SC. The owner of one of the horses, Karma Kitaj, is a writer who just published a book - "Women Riders Who Could...And Did". It includes the life stories of top level equestriennes. One of the women Karma writes about is Linda Tellington-Jones who is widely known for TTEAM, the Tellington TTouch Equine Awareness Method. Other interesting equestriennes include Julie Krone (a winning jockey), Valerie Kanavy (World Champion Endurance rider), and Sally Swift (creator of Centered Riding). Read more about the book and purchase your copy here.
