Breakfast in Carlisle PA

Today's breakfast recipe is found on page 14 of our cookbook, "Pheasant Field Favorites". The Oatmeal Nut Waffles are made with whole wheat flour AND oatmeal, so they are pretty healthy! I'm using pecans for the chopped nuts this morning but I hold those and ask each guest if they would like nuts so if anyone has a nut allergy or just does not like a nutty texture, they can have their waffles plain. I will use some apple slices on top of the waffles to add some color and contrast to the dish.
You can order a cookbook just sending us an email - cost is $12.50 + $2.50 shipping OR stop by the B&B or visit The Kitchen Shoppe.

It's hard to believe that January is almost gone! If you have not yet made reservations for Valentine's Day, it's time to do that! Another way to surprise her/him is with a Gift Certificate for a stay at some future time.

Things to do in the Carlisle PA area

Are you looking for some live theatre this weekend? Found it! - at The Little Theatre of Mechanicsburg. This local, community theatre will produce "You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown" this weekend.

There is always one more project here at Pheasant Field B&B! This week, we've been painting Boxwood Cottage. During the winter season, we try to refresh and redecorate rooms and common areas. This is just one more way we want to maintain our "Simply the Best" status with readers of Harrisburg Magazine and with ALL of guests.
We also had a surprise project this week: we replaced our 17 year old pump in our well. That's not one of those upgrades that you see when visiting the B&B, but you will certainly feel the benefits in nice strong water pressure in your shower!
Next project? We have something in mind - watch our blog or facebook posts for the scoop.

Pet Friendly Lodging in Carlisle PA

We have had some canine guests staying with us recently. "Breeze" was here with her owner who was in the area for business. Chuck & I were lucky enough to be able to play with Breeze a little while in the afternoon while her 'mom' was at work.

"Annie" was passing through on her way back to Maine, after visiting family in North Carolina. You can see that she just finished playing "fetch" with her 'dad' - a chance to stretch her doggie legs and use some energy before the long ride home.

You can see our pet friendly rooms and make your reservation for you and your pet! Check availability online and we'll be happy to greet you and your canine or equine companion.

Roundtop Mountain Resort will have perfect ski conditions this weekend. We still have one room available for this weekend. Call now or make your reservation online for our Cabin Fever special.

Extreme Makeover - B&B Style

It's time to redecorate some of our guestrooms. Having just returned from our national B&B Association's Annual Conference, I'm full of ideas for improving our rooms with guests' comfort and new preferences in mind.

Today was a very busy day of implementing some of the ideas I got at the conference. In "Boxwood Cottage", we moved the love seat out of the bedroom, rearranged the remaining furniture and added a "faux fireplace". The result is that the room looks bigger and there is a certain touch of romance from the fireplace too! We finished this part of the project just before the guest arrived to check-in so I did not get a chance to snap any pictures. The pictures will be coming later in the week.
We hope you will enjoy these changes the next time you need a quiet getaway.

We made some other changes in "The Pet-sylvania Room". We rearranged the furniture and I'm looking for some new lighting fixtures to illuminate each side of the bed independently for late night reading. We are also working on a small project to allow us to display more pictures of our animal guests. Be sure to bring a picture of your pet along with you when you stay in our pet friendly rooms at Pheasant Field B&B.

More "B&B makeover" changes coming! Keep watching for the details here.

First Snow in Carlisle PA for 2011

We had our first snow of 2011. It's just beautiful here at Pheasant Field Bed & Breakfast with the blanket of white stuff!

We have a group of scrap bookers here this weekend. They enjoy looking out at the fresh snow while they remember their summer trips! It's may be cold outside, but inside this old house, there are lots of warm memories of fun times!

Tomorrow, I will be heading south to attend the Professional Association of Innkeepers International annual B&B Conference. While Chuck "holds down the fort" here in Carlisle, I'll be reconnecting with other innkeepers from around the US and learning how to serve our guests even better! I'll send out some tweets or blog posts from Charleston, SC next week.

Remember that you have a special opportunity to enjoy two nights for the price of one - only in January - with our "Cabin Fever" Special. Check availability now to plan your winter getaway.
