2010 PA Innkeeper of the Year

On Monday, April 26, the PA Spirit of Hospitality Awards were announced. Barry Wicks was honored for his 20 years of exemplary service to the tourism industry as President & CEO of the PA Tourism & Lodging Association. Barry has served PA hotels, B&Bs, and attractions so well as a lobbyist and advocate - we will miss him greatly! Thank You Barry for all that you have done for PA's tourism industry!!!

There were other awards that evening - one of which was PA's Innkeeper of the Year. The honoree was Dee Fegan of Pheasant Field B&B -- that's ME!!! This is such a special award for me. As I looked around the room that night, I saw at least 15 other innkeepers who deserve this award too. And to tell you how wonderful those other innkeepers are - they gave me a standing ovation when my name was announced. That just shows how wonderful the B&B industry is!!!
Please stay at one of PA's B&Bs. If Carlisle, PA or Pheasant Field B&B is not in your travel plans, stay in any Pennsylvania B&B - it's a better way to stay when traveling!

Our local visitors bureau wrote about the award. Read on!

Happy May Day!

Carlisle Car Show #1

One down, nine to go for this season! The Spring Carlisle Car Show is viewed as a success by everyone in this area. Everyone who stayed with us either bought or sold merchandise at the show. The weather held up well until Saturday night so it was a good weekend for everyone.
Next car show: Performance & Style Show, May 8 & 9.

We are adding to our flock of Pheasants here at the B&B. Our guests bring or send new birds to us. Here are the newest birds in our flock:

New Cookbook

Our new cookbook has arrived! "Pheasant Field Favorites" is a collection of favorite recipes used here at the B&B and also includes recipes from guests, family members, and friends. We often get requests for recipes for our breakfast foods (especially the Oatmeal Pancakes) and will now have more to offer guests than just one hand-written recipe. We love the cover of the cookbook and hope you will enjoy the recipes too. Here it is!

Spring Colors

Spring has arrived (after a teaser of summer weather) in Carlisle, PA. The colors around Pheasant Field B&B grounds are just beautiful! Daffodills, tulips, cherry trees, dogwoods, and azaleas are creating wonderful color contrasts to the bright green grass. See what I mean...

We are seeing many of our "snow birds" returning from the south. Here you can see two of our recent "snow bird" guests:
one is the Herder; the other is the Herded ("who, me?" the horse seems to be saying!)

We hope to see you soon here at Pheasant Field B&B too - for hiking or fishing or just a quick getaway. Come see Carlisle in the spring!

Easter in Carlisle PA

It's spring; It's Easter; and it's the weekend for lots and lots of quilts!

We have lots of daffodils and some tulips blooming here at Pheasant Field Bed & Breakfast. The weather will be glorious for Easter sunrise services in the area. What a great weekend for a short getaway.

Remember the quilt auction at the PA State Farm Show Complex this weekend. Friday evening and all day Saturday several auctioneers will be selling beautiful quilts made by members of the Amish and Mennonite communities. All the quilts are donated and proceeds benefit world relief services of the Mennonite Central Committee. Purchase your quilt to keep you warm next winter!
