Another sign of Spring

I heard another sign of spring this morning: Peepers! From Wikipedia: The spring peeper (Pseudacris crucifer) is a small chorus frog widespread throughout the eastern USA and Canada. These little frogs which live near our pond, were singing their song this morning.

It's officially SPRING! The weather is absolutely beautiful today at Pheasant Field Bed and Breakfast - great for the first day of spring.

We will continue our March Maple Madness through the month. Maple recipe tip for today: if a recipe calls for honey as one of the ingredients, substitute real maple syrup in place of the honey. You will get the same sweetness with a certain "je ne sais quoi" flavor that you will enjoy.

March - Maple Recipe

March Maple Madness continues at Pheasant Field B&B. March is maple sugaring month in PA. We are featuring PA maple products in our breakfast dishes and we are including a small (maple) gift to all our guests during the month.

For people "on the go", here is a great recipe for a quick breakfast - using real (PA) maple syrup:

Maple Walnut Cheese Spread

4 tbs. Pure PA Maple Syrup

1 c. Cream Cheese, Softened

2 tbs. Chopped Walnuts (or Pecans)

Mix all ingredients in food processor until smooth. Spread on bagels, English muffins or on waffles.

A great recipe for a quick, on-the-go breakfast.

Pheasant FIeld Bed and Breakfast at the PAII Conference

It's day 3 at the national Bed and Breakfast conference in Austin TX and we are having a great time. The members of the Texas B and B Association have said a BIG Texas "Howdy" - welcoming innkeepers from the US and Canada. We enjoyed some great BBQ last night under the big, bright Texas sky - Thanks to Eric Goldreyer and all the folks at BedandBreakfast.com!

Dee will be doing a presentation on Thursday about hosting horses at a Bed and Breakfast. As many of our previous guests know, that is a very special service provided at Pheasant Field Bed and Breakfast and we meet some beautiful animals and fun and interesting guests because of it.

We are looking forward to another day full of education and fun! THANKS to all the wonderful people at home who are keeping things running smoothly "back at the ranch".

By the way, if you ever find yourself in Austin, have some Texas BBQ at County Line BBQ - a place where the "locals" eat!

Making a Trip

On our way…

We are traveling toward Austin TX for our national B&B conference. We are looking forward to seeing all the PAII staff and meeting up with innkeeper friends from across the country.

Wednesday, we spent much of the day at the KY Horse Park where we toured the National Museum of the Horse, met some great champion horses, and learned a lot about different breeds of horses in America. The park will play host to the FEI International Equestrian Games this September. That’s quite an honor for the USA and especially the KY Horse Park who will welcome people and horses from around the world!

Thursday as we drove toward New Orleans, we passed by Bowling Green, TN. All of our usual Corvette show guests have visited the National Corvette Museum. Although we did not stop there, I certainly smiled and thought about “our Corvette family”!

My Innsitters are doing a great job “back at the ranch” managing Pheasant Field B&B while we learn more about how to serve our guests better. Watch for more on our conference trip 2010.
