SummerFair - Carlisle PA

Summerfair begins this week in Carlisle. This summer festival is an example of the very best of "small town USA"! All events are free and fun! The fun starts with a parade on July 2, followed by an ice cream social and concert/dance on the square.

There are bike rides, horse shoe tournaments, softball games, a musical ("Oliver"), and one of my favorites: "Anything Floats" race in the lake at Boiling Springs.
More activities include fishing derbies, country line dancing, a miniature golf tournament, swing dance lessons, tours of historic buildings, and even a small craft fair.

The Harrisburg Symphony will play a concert on the lawn of Dickinson College on Sunday evening 7/5.

Check the full schedule at the link provided and come to Carlisle to experience the best of small town USA!

Ballet Students in town

This is the weekend when the ballet students return for the 5 week session with The Central PA Youth Ballet. Carlisle is fortunate to have one of the premier ballet schools in the country which began training dancers in 1955 under the direction of Marcia Dale Weary. We have lots of parents staying with us and dropping off their children for "ballet camp" this weekend. For the next 5 weeks around town we'll see lots of young ladies with their hair in buns, wearing tights, and with the best posture in the world!

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY! Sunday, 6/21 is Father's Day AND the first day of summer. Be sure to celebrate both events - perhaps by taking your dad fishing!

Have a great weekend and first week of summer.

Busy Weekend

Whew, busy weekend!  The Ford Car show was in town. One of our guests won 1st prize for their '66 Mercury convertible, "Big Red".  The car is a beauty!

Congratulations  to Graduating Class of the US Army War College!  We had family members of one graduate stay here with us. They are very proud of their son/brother, as they should be.  We say "Thanks" to all those folks who dedicate their lives to helping to keep us safe!  Godspeed to all the new grads!

We hosted a wedding shower today for about 62 guests.  It was a beautiful day on the back patio for a Ladies' Tea Wedding Shower.  Mom of the bride gave me a lovely souvenir teacup.  Best wishes to Jessica & Jason who will be tying the knot on 8/8/09!

Have a great week ahead!

A Beautiful Wedding

What a beautiful wedding!  This weekend was just perfect for our first outdoor wedding and reception of the season!
The bride was gorgeous - the groom was relaxed - the wedding party and guests had a great time!  The ceremony was held on the island, under the pergola with the fountain spraying in the background.  The reception was held under the tent with a gentle breeze to help cool the guests.
We wish our newlyweds all the happiness in the world!

Next weekend, the Ford car show will be held at the Carlisle fairgrounds.  We look forward to seeing all our Ford show "regulars" and meeting a few new car show enthusiasts.  ...hope the weather is just a good as this past weekend!
